Rain and Shine

It was so nice to have a long holiday weekend to celebrate Gage's second birthday.
With the weather in limbo, we couldn't decide how to pin down any real plans.
So, we just kind of flew by the seat of our pants and squeezed in as much fun as possible!
We had some rain and we had some shine...

Friday night we got our groove on at cousin Aleigha's birthday party.
I had a blast dancing the night away under the disco ball to the tunes of a great DJ.
Think--high school stomp but with much shorter kids and less slow dancing...

Saturday morning our little family headed out on an adventure!
We stopped by Lee's to fuel up on doughnuts and milk and to grab some snacks for a picnic.
After a quick run through Smith and Edwards, we found ourselves at the trail head for Inspiration Point.
We snuggled ourselves up and got tucked tightly in the Ranger and headed up the mountain.
It was a gorgeous ride!
The trees and foliage were so green from all the rain and the views were spectacular!
The kids were having a great time eating fruit snacks and looking for goats--
then suddenly the weather shifted!

The clouds got dark and the light sprinkle of rain turned to hail!
It was insane!  The temperature dropped 20 degrees within minutes.
We started heading back not a moment too soon.
To say it was pouring rain would be an understatement!
It was so funny.  Cord and I kept cracking rain jokes the whole ride down.
One poor 4-wheeler dude we passed had to stop and warm his hands up on his exhaust pipe!  EEK!

Luckily, the kids stayed pretty dry in the backseat and Gage actually slept through the whole thing!
Cord was smart enough to bring his poncho along, so we used that on our laps.
It funneled a river of rain water down to our feet, but at least our pants were dry.
The kids and I huddled in the truck with the heater blasting,
while Cord got the gear put away and the Ranger back on the trailer.
He was soaked to the bone when he got finished.  What a great Daddy!
It was quite the outing...

We had to eat our "picnic" lunch at Granny B and Grandpa's house...with some hot cocoa of course!

Sunday, Gage's actual birthday, was pretty chill.  We went to church and then Dax's fam came over for an impromptu barbeque that night.  I stayed up way too late reading.  Typical Adelle.

Monday we threw together another spur of the moment outing and took the crew up to the yacht club for a potluck birthday BBQ with a nice mix of Dennis peeps and Belnap peeps.

We had lunch, birthday cake, and Gage got to open some fun gifts.  We rode Ryan's new paddle boards around the docks.  The kids played at the playground, rode their bikes, and helped get Grandpa Belnap's boat in the water.   Bubbles were blown and popped.  There was some fishing going on and some bike riding too.  We had a fire and soaked in the beautiful scenery.

Gage was one lucky boy to spend his "birthday" at such a fun place.  The poor little guy could hardly walk by the end of the night because he was so worn out. But he was still smilin'.

Eating cake!

Cord and Dax enjoyed Gage's new ball from the Evan's fam!

Two years ago this little boy came into our lives. . .

We could have never imagined that we would love him as much as we do.  He is the best little buddy this side of the Mississippi.  Oh, I could just burst when I think about his innocent blue blue eyes, and his extra soft kissy cheeks.  His sweet 'love you's' and his tough man run are to die for.  He is so happy and he loves to play and tease with his sisters.  I am one lucky lucky mama.  No doubt about that!

Oh Adelle, it was so fun to watch Gage just wander around at the club. He is so adorable...the green swim trunks were to the best! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you.
