Red Rock Country

We just got back from a week in Sedona Arizona.

 And here is a little recap of our adventures...

I was nervous about the drive, because it is so long (10.5 hours of driving time)

but the kids were amazing!

We took a nice long stop in Page at the Glenn Canyon Dam.

We had a picnic, checked out the bridge, and got our wiggles out.

Cord pulled the kids around on grass with this blanket.  They loved it!

 

 

He was too heavy for them to pull.  

 

We got to our vacation home with enough time to sneak in a quick hike before dark!

It was in a perfect location.  I wish I would have taken pics of the house...but I forgot!

There was a huge wrap around deck that had spectacular views in every direction.

My little family got to stay in the darling guest house that was adjacent to the main home.

One of our very favorite hikes of the whole trip was right outside our front door.

It was just beautiful...

Cord got to do this trail on his bike a few times as well.

We went on two hikes a day and wore ourselves completely out! 

 

I accidently kicked a cactus plant while hiking!

The prickly things stuck right into my foot through my shoe!

Cord had to pluck them out.  Yikes!  

 

This amazing spot is at the end of the Broken Arrow trail.

I couldn't believe how well the girls did on all of our hikes!

 

Cord brought the kites along because it got kind of windy on top of the rocks.

The kids thought that was pretty nifty.

 

 

One morning we met up with a big group of family to hike to the famous Cathedral Rock.

It was fun to scale up the red rock, and the views from the top were magnificent. 

 

Matt was working on overcoming his fear of heights.  :)

 

There are places in Sedona that are known for their good energy.

This spot is a Vortex...  do-do-do-do

One evening we took a ride on a bumpy dirt road to check out some Indian ruins.

It is pretty fantastic that these structures were built over 6,000 years ago! 

 

 

Our vacation house was a great place to hang out in.  It was gigantic. 

We even had a few extra visitors who wanted to share it with us!

This little lizard was chillin' in the living room.

 

Here are the three little boys getting all that red dirt off in the bath!

Aren't they so cute?  I love that Gage has some cousin buddies to play with.

 

That primary purpose of our trip was to attend my cousin Peter's wedding.

It was held at Red Rock Crossing.  A beautiful section of red rock that borders a river.

The background for their ceremony was a beautiful skyline of red rock.  

My favorite part of the ceremony was when they released these white doves.

They symbolize always coming home.  They looked so pretty and white against the rocks.

It took a little encouragement to get them to fly away.  :)

The reception was at a place downtown Sedona.

The kids thought it was cool that you could order as many drinks as you wanted.

We had some yummy food and plenty of entertainment to enjoy.

Cord took the kids back home early because they were getting sleepy,

and let me stay to enjoy the last of the party.

Got to do at least one karaoke song right?

 

Between the delicious food, the beautiful scenery, the comfortable home, and the good company,

we pretty much had a perfect little vacation...
