He has always made us laugh with his silly jokes and funny faces. Gage is a tender boy with a loving heart. He gives nice kisses and likes to snuggle as he falls asleep at night. He also loves teasing his little brother. Whenever Gage is bored, poor Ollie gets picked on. Of course, Gage thinks it is hilarious to make Oliver squeal. Gagey is an awesome bike rider. He builds tall forts with the couch cushions. He loves to play Uno and Sequence. He is creative and plays well on his own. He calls his sisters the "grills" because he still has trouble pronouncing his "r's." Gage is always game to go on a hike with me or to hold my hand as we watch a movie. He is my best buddy. I love him so much it makes my heart almost burst.
He picked a shark theme this year for his birthday. We spent some time on Pinterest looking at party ideas and planning shark activities. It was fun seeing the things he liked and didn't like on the Pinterest pages.
The weather was crazy Memorial Day Weekend, so we pushed his party to a weekday and celebrated on his actual birthday. It was kinda nice doing it on his big day. It made the party extra fun. We invited his Dennis cousins at the last minute and everyone was able to come. Wahoo.
We started things off with lunch. We had seafood to go with our theme. The adults had some amazing fish tacos made by my Mom. The kids got to choose from shark infested jello (gummy sharks in blue jello), fish sticks, and some other tasty sides.
Then, we headed out back in my parent's backyard for the fun and games. We played a game called Shark Bait. We tied a saltine cracker onto a string and then tied them onto everyone's back belt loop. Then, two teams played against each other trying to whack the crackers off the opposite team using pool noodles. It was rather entertaining watching everyone swing at each other. We had some good laughs. The team who lost their crackers first was the "shark bait."
Gage and the girl's helped me paint a fun little shark photo booth over the weekend to use at the party. We took lots of silly pictures inside the shark's mouth.
The kids all had a chance to walk across the river on a plank. They had to be extra careful not to fall in the water because it was full of sharks!! EEK!
I cooked Gage a shark cake. It had several colors of blue in the frosting to make the ocean look authentic. I hope he made a good wish when he blew out the candles.
Gage is such a cute birthday boy. He is happy to share his new toys and let's Ollie assist in the present opening.
He had a great birthday!
