One of my favorite things about my neighborhood is this:
The Wiesenberg's Christmas Nativity
My good friend Tracy and her family put on a full-on production of the Nativity story
for the neighborhood to see.
They go all-out. They serve hot chocolate, decorate the set, and even rent animals.
This year's production had a live camel! Cool right?
Tracy asked my girls' to be the angels.
Libby was ecstatic. She could live in the spotlight.
The kids act out their part to the narrator, so they don't have to talk.
Lib of course, was itching for some lines!
Natty, on the other hand, couldn't get over the fact that she had to wear so many layers.
For the girl who lives in a swimming suit, bundling up to perform in the cold was just too much.
She just wasn't comfortable. And she let me know it!
Good thing for hand warmers. Those kept her distracted for a bit.
Joesph and his cute brother a Shepherd.
Here is Joseph bringing in Mary on her donkey.
Aren't they adorable?
The two angels waiting 'backstage' for their turn to shine!
Here is a peek at the audience. There was quite the crowd!
It was Freezing with a capital F, but that didn't stop people from coming out to the show!
(Cord is holding Gage on the bundle of hay in the front and center.)
Tracy sang a beautiful song and did the narration of the story.
She asked me to sing a Christmas song as well.
While I was singing Nat kept tugging at my sleeve saying,
"I need to go potty!" What a little angel.
The Three Wisemen bringing their gifts.
Isn't that camel fun?
What happens next? When do the angels come in?
Well, the very next thing that happened was that, in a flash, my camera battery died!
What? I was so sad. I think using the flash combined with the arctic temps made it drain super fast.
So, there are no photos to show how tall and proud Libby was,
standing with her angel arms outstretched, giving word to the shepherds
that they could find the baby Jesus lying in a manger.
No pictures of Natalie, waiting in the sidelines holding on to her mommy's leg
refusing to go out onto the hay in front of all of those people.
She was too cold, and uncomfortable, and she still had to go potty...
So, the story concluded. The shepherds found the baby and worshiped him.
Like we can do as well this Holiday Season--
Take a break from tending our flocks (cleaning, baking, shopping, wrapping, partying)
and make time to find the Lord.
